Giuseppe Maria Nigra, Italian national, was born in Lisbon on March 16, 1956. He graduated in Agriculture from the University of Perugia (Italy) in 1972. He is married and father of three children.

He was appointed as Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Republic of Portugal in January 2020. His father, Giuseppe Nigra, Knight of Grace and Devotion, was Ambassador of the Order of Malta in Portugal from 1982 to 2002.

Giuseppe Maria Nigra has been operating in the private sector, and in 2002 he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Controlauto, which belongs to Brisa (Portuguese highways company).

Since 2003 he is the Provider of the Italian Church of Our Lady of Loreto in Lisbon.

In 2021 he was knighted in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
